A spooktacular Halloween weekend of races

This week saw the return of the Cross Country season for Skegness and District runners, as well as the much loved Lincoln 10k, a couple of spooktacular Halloween races and a marathon in Germany.

On Saturday, Mark Sands and Leanne Rickett travelled to Leeds for the Hubble Bubble Halloween themed 10-mile race along the Leeds to Liverpool canal.

Mark had a fantastic race, finishing first overall with an impressive time of 1.03.39.

Leanne, who’s coming back from injury, also had a great race finishing in 1.28.22.

Another ever popular Halloween race this weekend was the Worksop Halloween Half Marathon.

Mark Collingwood had a great race finishing in 1.36.32 as did Julie Goodwin in 2.25.43.

On Sunday, sixteen club runners travelled over to Lincoln for this year’s 10k.

This hilly course through the city centre is always popular with runners from the club.

First male back for the club in 35.49 was Steven Dowse, followed by Paul Jackson (36.06) and Phillip Weaver (39.35).

First female back for the club in 53.58 was Henrietta Wells, followed by Rebecca Atkinson (54.53) and Kate Carpenter (55:24).

Four runners bagged themselves PBs at Lincoln, Andrew Thompson with 39.32, Dave Kenton with 48.48 and Mikey Booth with 58.10. Andy Johnson had a fantastic race finishing in 41.00 with not only new 5k and 10k PB’s, but he also finished first in his age category. Great work by you all.

Sarah and Shawn Thomas ran together and shaved five seconds off their time from last year with a time of 1.00.57.

Other finishers for the club were Derrick Carpenter (42.19), Martin Chapman (44.07), Garrath Ellershaw (45.10), Hilary Speller (1.05.59) and Chris Hurst (1.06.00).

Meanwhile, over in Germany, Richard Gibbs took part in the Frankfurt Marathon.

Richard had a fantastic race, finishing in an impressive time of 2:43:28.

He said it was a great race on a flat, fast course.

We can’t wait to see where Richard’s next marathon takes him!

And last but definitely not least, this week saw the return of cross country season.

The first race of the season took place on Madges Farm in Stroxton near Grantham.

Representing the club in the men’s race was Ed Crawford (37.38), Mark Lyon (38.10), Ash Brown (40.19), James Willis (44.49) and Lee Cook (45.29).

And in the women’s race was Amy Mitchell (35.04), Kirsty Boulton (37.59), Lora Robinson (39.06) and Sarah Dowling.
