Happy New Year from SADRC
Sunday 5th January
What an amazing year 2019 was…so many fantastic achievements achieved, many memories made and stories to be told. Who knows what 2020 could bring, but I for one am excited for what the year will bring.
We shall start today’s report with the SADRC Awards evening! What an incredible night and a big thank you to Helena for organising the event! So lovely to see everyone dress up, celebrate and share in their running year stories! Thank you for attending!
The awards night as always is very special! Each award is voted for by the members! We have so many amazing achievements achieved over the year and it's such a wonderful event to recognise and remember these! We have the XC league award and the overall race league awards and then some other special awards too!

Thank you to all our wonderful award sponsors as well couldn't have the evening without you! Massive congratulations to everyone! Hope you all celebrated in style....and then the following day had a great breakfast to celebrate after!
After the members of SADRC recovered from what was a fantastic evening the last race of the calendar was upon us! Mark Lyon took the baton for this one and ran the Peterborough 10km. Mark finished the race in a time of 40:58 and crossed the line in 51st place. Great achievement and what a way to finish the year!
Next up was the NYD Cleethorpes 10km but more importantly it was SADRC 5th Birthday! What an achievement! 5 amazing years, 5 incredible years of running! The cub has grown from 5 members to nearly 200 members. And the only way we know how to celebrate, is to run…..and to eat cake!
13 members of SADRC took on the NYD 10km which had a fantastic medal and t-shirt presented to each finisher. Crossing the line first, was Mark Lyon! Why wouldn’t you want to run 2 10km races in 2 days! Mark improved on his time from the day before finishing in 40:29. Mark Haynes finished 2nd for the club in 45:12 and Andy Shelton followed with 45:44. Julie Goodwin crossed the line and was the 2nd lady from SADRC with 56:36, followed by Samantha Fox who ran with Mark Sands in 58:09 and then Lora Hawkins in 1:02:23 and Becky Hobson finished the run in 1:02:25.
Massive shout out to Louise Darrington who created the SADRC 5th Birthday Cake Masterpiece to celebrate the birthday celebrations. We cannot thank you enough for creating the tasty cake which was shared between as many members of the club over the week. Louise ran the race aswell and finished in 1:05:48 followed by Natasha Haynes 1:07:13 and Helena Shelton 1:09:02.
To end the week on a high, SADRC competed in County Champions for XC at Biscathorpe. A very tough and challenging course but 19 fantastic SADRC runners completed the course. Our highest turn out to the County Champs…the mud, water and ditches didn’t put anyone off.
A big shout out to the Men’s Vet Team who came in 2nd place. Paul Jackson, Mark Sands and Ed Crawford. Fantastic running and great representation for the club!
Big Thank You to Ed Crawford and Helena Shelton for being the captains of XC. Its great to see an increase of runners attending the XC races, hopefully this will continue throughout 2020.
That’s the first week of 2020 done and dusted…Manic week but adventurous! If this is week 1, who knows where the rest of the year will take us!
