Skegness Beginners Smash the C25K

Skegness Beginners Smash the C25K

On Thursday 19th December, the Skegness Couch to 5km runners ran their first 5km!

The course started 9 weeks ago with fantastic numbers in attendance. Helena and Andy Shelton ran the course with an army of fantastic volunteers from the Skegness site. The course couldn’t run without the volunteers, so a big thank you to every single person that helped make this course a success!

Get Out Get Active once again sponsored the course and provided t-shirts and torches for all the fantastic finishers. To celebrate the achievement, a celebration dinner was had in Café Magna in Skegness with Ian Brown from Active Lincolnshire present to present the t-shirts to the runners. Thank you GOGA for supporting the club for the past 3 years, it is much appreciated!

Originally the course runs for 10 weeks. It has been specifically designed for SADRC and has a large success rate. This time in Skegness, to coincide with Christmas, the course was completed in 9 weeks. What an achievement!

Every runner enjoyed it, with fantastic praise for the course itself. Not only completing 5km but every runner that finished, has joined SADRC….and has been running since!

“I have not only proved something to myself but made some great new friends for 2020 too.”

Running 5km is such a fantastic achievement and as a club we are so proud of our beginners turn runners. We are excited to follow their running journey and see where running takes them!

Skegness Training now takes place on a Thursday at 6:30pm meeting at The Crown Hotel.
