What a week for Skegness and District runners! Despite the heat, we had runners taking on races across the country from 200m sprints all the way up to a marathon.
The weekend started well at the Burghley 10k, with Lee Mullen finishing first in a fantastic 36.22 and Steven Dowse second in 38.34 - great running by you both! Also taking on the 10k with a return to the distance was Rebecca Atkinson in 1.02.27.
Also at Burghley, but challenging himself to the half marathon distance, was Alan Fountain who had a great race despite the heat finishing in 2.18.43.
Steven, said: ‘It was a beautiful and scenic course mixing road, woodland, grass and trail.’
Also braving the heat on Saturday was Julie Goodwin who completed the bog commander. This was a picturesque but challenging muddy, serious terrain obstacle event over 4 miles at Buxton.
Julie completed the race in 2:45:55 as part of a team and said she’d highly recommend it to others!
Moving into Sunday, Andy Johnson took on the Eye 10k. He finished in an impressive 51.28 despite the very hot conditions, earning himself a well deserved beer at the end!
Leanne Rickett headed further afield to the Zig Zag half marathon in Bury St Edmunds.
And up north, Mark Collingwood completed the Rob Burrows Leeds marathon in a fantastic 4.12.29 - brilliant effort Mark, especially in the heat!
Meanwhile, closer to home was Beth Mitchell who competed in the Lincolnshire track championships finishing second in the 200m and fourth in the 800m - great work Beth!
Finally, this weekend saw a fantastic turnout at the Batsman’s brewery 5k and 10k charity runs for the Fire Fighter’s charity.
