Sunday 12th November 2023
In the week that saw Poppies, Curries and the cold weather there was a solitary SADRC Sunday racer in Andrew Thompson who took part in the Alton Towers Half. On a challenging but fun route Andrew achieved not only a great time of 01:29:33 and 68th place out of 1575 but also a queue free shot at the rides afterwards.
Earlier in the weekend we had both early risers and night owls. Saturday morning brought a sea of orange to Market Rasen Park Run with our club achieving a plethora of PB’s, pacing perfection and pure dominance of the top five. Special mention must go to Janet Harmston who accomplished her aim of grabbing the V65 course record by running home in 23.40 paced by Andy Shelton. Simon Wise continued his golden streak with another 5km PB of 18.36 paced by Mark Sands. Phillip Prowse obliterated his 5km PB knocking over a minute off in 24.08 and there was a course best of Annabelle Bradley of 31.38. Overall, a great turnout and great breakfast afterwards.
Twinkle lights and a gorgeous medal lit up the darkness at Rutland Night 10KM. An event which we suspect could see many more SADRC runner explore next year with the option of running on either Friday or Saturday evening. Our finishers were Mark Collingwood (43.44), Amy Mitchell (53.00) Helena Shelton (01:15:08) and Treena Atkin (01:15:54).
Well done everyone.
