"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them."

On this Remembrance Sunday, our local "Poppy Run" at Friskney attracted eight runners from Skegness and District. Starting and Finishing at Friskney Village Hall the 10K race looped around the flat Lincolnshire countryside, providing some excellent times for our runners. First to cross the line for the Orange and Black was Leo Weaver in a time of 42.08, closely followed by dad Phillip in 42.11. First lady for the Club was Janine Baker who was happy with her time of 54.31. Our other runners finished as follows ~ Alan Fountain 52.36, Ian Kocko 54.20, Graham Farley 58.18 and Janet & Barry Norton crossed the line together in 75.19.

Five of our fun loving members travelled west to the UK’s biggest Theme Park, Alton Towers, for their brand new Half Marathon event around the park. Starting and finishing within the park itself this event featured a uniquely themed medal and you also get to enjoy the incredible rides at the park after your run. The route itself was said to be hilly, preparing them all for the roller coasters to follow. First back for the club was Darren Fissenden in 1.47.36, followed by David Sydenham in a time of 2.03.47, Amy Mitchell 2.05.36, Leanne Rickett, who continues her road to recovery in 2.12.19, Dawn Cawston 2.25.45 and Julie Goodwin in 2.30.38.

Skegness and District Running Club continues to be a fully inclusive club, offering dedicated training to runners of all abilities. We have training nights throughout the week in Skegness, Boston, Spilsby & Horncastle. See our Website for further details.
