Sunday 15th September

The Lincs BOx (Belchford and Oxcombe) running, walking and biking event took place on Sunday in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds countryside all in aid of supporting projects that help young people in the area. Skegness and District Running Club member Lee Cook chose the Duathlon consisting of the 25k bike and 10k run. Chris Hurst, Paul Jackson and Heather Freeman opted for the 10k run and Mark Collingwood took on the 5k. The 10k run was timed but as yet unpublished. This event is fully inclusive for all ages and abilities.

13 runners also attended the ABP Humber Coastal half marathon held on Cleethorpes sea front. Mark Sands was first SADRC member to cross the line, claiming 4th overall and 1st place MV45 in a rapid 1:17:30. Darren Weston was 2nd club male back in 1:28:42 and Brian Darrington 3rd in 1:35:10 posting a new personal best over the distance. For the ladies it was Leanne Rickett in sight of the finish line first in 1:48:55 with Gail Davies close behind 1:51:24 earning herself a shiny new PB. Samantha Fox was 3rd club lady home for a 2:02:52 finish. Gerry Shannon completed her first half marathon in a strong, confidence giving time of 2:23:11 whilst Carrie Cropley took on the 5k race at the same event, making a strong come back after time off to become a mum for the second time. Carrie finished in 30:34.

Lora Hawkins headed back to home soil for the Beckenham half marathon. Lora happily reminisced saying “It was such a lovely home town half. No roads closed just some really understanding motorists and some brilliant Marshall’s including my wonderful mother who held up traffic like a trooper! I can’t believe though that I lived (t)here for the first 18 years of my life and have never noticed that there’s some killer hills all over the place!” Lora completed the tough 13.1mile course in 2:20:53.
