Sunday 19th December
The last weekend before Christmas. Can you believe it!
Grantham Running Club host a Summer Solstice every year, but need I say it….COVID has played a part in its delay (for a few years) Finally, it was under way and with a different name….Winter Solstice 10km was born.
The Witner Solstice had the same course as the Summer, a 10km route around Long Bennington. It’s a popular route with SADRC, with fantastic organisation, good marshals, and the beer at the end is always a winner.
We had 12 runners taking part in this race and great results all round. I must say, it doesn't matter on results, I think the winner was Julie! That outfit is FANTASTIC!!! Christmas Spirit in abundance!!
First finisher for SADRC was Darren Fissenden running a PB race time of 45:58. He also managed to bag himself a 5km PB and 2 mile PB. Excellent running, well done! Amy Mitchell crossed the line second in a great time of 51:05 followed by Alan Fountain 30 seconds later running another great race.
Leanne Rickett is coming back from illness strong finishing the race in 52:02 and Steph Scott following with her 2nd fastest 10km race at 55:14.
Julie Goodwin, Becky Hobson, Shawn and Sarah Thomas, Adam Patrick along with Emmajean and Jimmy all ran a great race, which may be the last race for 2021 for many of them.
The course appears flat but it is more undulating than first thought!
A great run, fab social and wonderful results.
Our last runs for 2021 are this week.
All festive fun will be had!!
WE WISH YOU ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS
