Sunday 19th January 2020

Emily Decelles debuted her Skegness and District Running Club colours on Sunday at Gargrave Half Marathon (It's Grim up North running team), North Yorkshire. Due to slippery conditions the course had to be changed at the last minute forcing a late start but all ran smoothly from there on in and Emily posted a time of 2:20:38 on a very hilly course. Finishers beer and chocolate were gratefully received for her efforts.

Sunday also saw the 31st running of the Folksworth 15 mile road race, hosted by Yaxley Runners and Joggers. A two lap challenging course with three fairly steep hills on each lap to test runners strength and stamina. The course is a popular one for those in training for spring marathons as is the case for the SADRC contingent. Four members completed the task at hand including Darrell Brown who was first home for the club in 1:48:33, setting a strong benchmark for his London marathon training. Angela Thompson crossed the line in 1:58:23 and claimed the 3rd lady prize in her age category. Angela was thrilled with the result as her first race back after injury. Leanne Rickett is forging forwards also on her path to London and continues to impress with a 2:04:32 finishing time whilst Garrath Ellershaw finished strongly in 2:17:15.

Training runs are still happening around Lincolnshire, all in preparation for 10kms, Half Marathons and Marathons! Training runs are so much easier with friends!

Skegness and District Running Club host training sessions on Tuesdays in Spilsby, Wednesdays in Horncastle, Thursdays in Skegness and Boston.
