Sunday 21st January 2024

Sunday saw two club runners head up north for the annual Brass Monkey Half Marathon, organised by the York Knavesmire Harriers.

Angela Cragg, who was running in her first race since October, finished in a fantastic 1.47.16 and Rebecca Atkinson in an impressive 1.57.11.

Angela, said: “It wasn’t as windy as expected and luckily the rain held off – lovely weather for a race.”

Great running by you both and it’s lovely to see you back racing Angela.

Meanwhile, further South, five club runners were taking on the Folksworth 15.

First back for the club and third overall was Lee Mullen in an impressive time of 1.26.56 - Lee also bagged a half marathon PB in the process.

Next back for the club was Derrick Carpenter in 1:46:18 followed by Amy Mitchell 2:20:47, Kate Carpenter 2:26:55, and Julie Goodwin 2:50:15.

Brilliant running everyone in some very conditions.

Closer to home on Sunday saw a social Sunday run at Fordington, orgnaised by Phillip Weaver.

There was the option to complete either one or two loops of either 5 or 7 miles.

It was great to see so many runners turning out from the club, thanks Phillip for organising. Don’t forget to keep checking our members Facebook group for upcoming social runs.

Finally, this Saturday coming (27 January), will see James Willis attempt to break the 75-79 course record at Boston parkrun. It’ll be great to see as many club runners as possible there to support James with his attempt, please join him if you can. Good luck James!
