It’s been a busy weekend of running (and some swimming and cycling) for club runners this week.

Kicking off the weekend with some fantastic ParkRun times were Philip Prowse at Burnham on Sea in Somerset, with a new PB of 26:08. Also getting a PB, this time closer to home at Boston, was Simon Wise in 20.46 and Martin Jones continued to improve with a SB of 28.46 knocking 1min 30secs off his time. James Willis kicked off his weekend of running at the Folkestone ParkRun in 25.33 .

Sunday saw Andrew Thompson head up North to Sheffield for the Run for All Sheffield 10k. He had a fantastic race, finishing in an impressive 39.26.

Meanwhile, down South, Darren Fissenden and James Willis took part in the Folkestone half marathon. They both had a great race, finishing in 1.35.18 and 1.50.44 respectively.

Closer to home, and back for its second year, was the popular Woodhall Spa Sprint Triathlon which consisted of:

  • 400 metre outdoor pool swim

  • 24km cycle

  • 5km run

We had both individual and team entries from the club.

Taking second and third place in the team races were:

- Lee Mullen, Mike Booth and Lewis Moses (1.08.13)

- Simon Wise and Philip Weaver (1.11.18)

Competing in the individual category was Dawn Cawston-Sellars, finishing in a fantastic 1.50.05

Dawn said: “This was my first (mini) triathlon.

“I really enjoyed it and it was great to see our club so well represented!

“There was so much support from everyone too. A lovely (wet and windy) morning.”

Fantastic effort everyone!

And last, but by absolutely no means least, is Ruth Bullen who travelled to Madrid for the European triathlon championships. Ruth had a brilliant event, finishing 7th in an impressive 3.09.33. Great work Ruth!

Just to add a shoutout to those in the club who attend events to support and encourage others even when they’re not able to run themselves. It always means a lot and it’s great to see a friendly face on route!
