A busy week with lots of events on throughout the week! It started with the "Wolds Tough Ten!" A race that used to be on at the weekend, but has moved into the Wednesday Night Race Series.
5 SADRC runners took on the Lincolnshire Versions of Mount Kilimanjaro!(Its true, you have to run it to believe it!) Congratulations Steven Dowse who finished 5th in a time of 59:37, just sneaking under the 1 hour barrier. Epic effort with those MOUNTAINS! Janet Harmston finished 1st in her age category in a time of 1hr27 with Alex South not too far behind in a time of 1hr29. Jane Martin and Becki Atkinson ran the race together and crossed the line in 1hr39.
Kudos must be given to Jane who got back from Holiday the morning of the race, and thought a post run was a great idea! Lincolnshire, Hills on a beautiful muggy night, what could be better! Congratulations to all 5 runners!
Next Up was one of the popular Friday night races! This one was to celebrate the Summer Solstice! Grantham 10km, provides everything you need in a race; A goodie bag, a medal and a pint of beer after! Perfect!
The race takes part in Long Bennington and we had 6 runners attend the event. Steven Dowse just cannot get enough of these races...and PBs! Achieving yet another PB crossing the line in 6th place overall in a time of 34:45. Brian Darrington finished 2nd for SADRC crossing in a time of 40:21 followed by Chris Hurt in 45 minutes dead, Seconds from a PB!...Surely finishing 45:00 deserves a medal in itself?!? Amy Mitchell crossed the line in an epic finish crossing the line first for the SADRC Ladies in 51:54 with one of the best finish line determination photos ive seen in a long time! Louise Darrington followed in a time of 58:38 and Julie Goodwin in 1hr01.
Congratations to all 6 SADRC Runners. The next Friday night race will be Sleaford 10km in August. A very popular race....not beer this time, but CAKE!
We even had a Saturday Race this week. Congratulations to Kate and Fearne Carpenter and Janet Harmston. All 3 ladies completed the Rutland 10km this Saturday. A very "beautiful course but very hot." This was Fearne's first race since completing her GCSEs last week, so CONGRATULATIONS! Fearne crossed the line in 57:57..how poetic! Kate crossed in 55:38 on a very very hot course! Congratulations Ladies!
Finally, but my no means least in this epic achievement is Steve Bark. For our newer runners, Steve is a fell runner, and an incredible runner at that! Buttermere Horseshoe Fell Race is classed as one of the toughest Lakeland races in the calendar running through the fells at Lanthwaite Green. A tough race, especially as you have to navigate yourself. Steve loves a hill, so ran up Crag Hill just for extra measure. (A 21 mile race turning into 23!) Finishing seconds over 6hr30, Steve said there is an "amazing spread at the end and a free drinks bottle and a bottle of Loweswater Gold Ale." Perfect way to finish!
A quick mention goes to Lora Hawkins and Annabel Bradley for both running the Race for Life. A wonderful race for a fantastic cause. Because of the heat the race went from a 10km to a 5km but its all in the spirit of the race and why you run! Congratulations Ladies.
What a weekend! So many different types of running which is fantastic to read about!
Enjoy the sunshine, and a beer but as always, when running, stay HYDRATED and keep SAFE!
