Sunday 27th October 2024

This weekend brought three big local races.

Firstly the spooky Worksop Half Marathon, an undulating but beautiful course taking in Clumber Park. Kate Howard managed to knock a whopping 8 minutes off her half marathon PB coming in at 2:06:22. Tracey Gill also achieved a half marathon pb of 2:06:28. Ruth Bullen was first home for the club in fantastic time of 01:56:49.

Next up, over in Brigg we had the 10km. Brigg 10km is a fast out & back course giving the opportunity to see and cheer on other club member and runners and which supports the royal British legion. First back for the club was Steven Dowse (35.59) closely followed by Rob Rawdon (36.13) both finishing in the top 20. Phil Prowse (46:54) got yet another PB to add to his 5km PB on the track on Wednesday, what a week! Rounding up the finishers in a strong representation from the club were Michael Elton (46:52), Jenny hunt (48:10), Sarah Dowling (49.44), Martin Jones (54:58), Sally Sharp (56:49), Kelly Holroyd (57:02), Julie Goodwin (01:00:28) and Rob Goddard (01:19:48).

Finally, we had Fenland 10. There are not many 10 milers about, so this is a great run for the autumn. The route starts near West Walton Junior School and heads out onto flat Fenland roads. Alan Fountain represented SADRC and ran the route in a fantastic time of 1hr34 and was 2nd in his age category. Great running Alan.

Earlier in the next a 5km time trial at the clubs weekly track night saw a number of quick times, fantastic efforts and pbs.

As the clocks have gone back, and the nights are dark, please can everyone ensure on club nights they have A HIGH VISABILTY VEST and LIGHTS. This is for your own safety!
