Sunday 4th August 2024

...and just like that, we have had a solid couple of weeks of summer, and August is upon us! The Olympics is in full swing, and if this has not inspired you to put on a pair of trainers, or buy a swim hat.....what is wrong with you!?!?

We had 3 amazing runners take on the Curlys Big School Run 12 hour endurance run! Amy Mitchell absolutely smashed it running a total of 50 miles which is 16 laps of the 5km route. Incredible running was followed by outstanding running from Kirsty Boulton who ran 42 miles which was 13 laps of the course. James Willis completed 28 miles, but with one eye on the GB Half Marathon Championship in 6 weeks, pulled out to keep himself fit and healthy!

I am in owe of anyone who can run an endurance race, and it was wonderful to see that there was a group running from SADRC so they could support each other throughout the event. For next year, you can do this event in a team...could that tempt any others to give it a go?

Sian Matthews ran the Nottingham Running Festival 10km on Sunday Morning with her first 10km back since injury and the shingles! Sian crossed the line in 58:47 which is fantastic and Sian was so happy with the result. After having to pull out of a race last week due to injury, to come back, book a race last minute and to smash it under the hour, congratulations!

Over in York, there was the York 10km. We had three members run the event with Phillip Weaver getting a new 10km in 37.50 so a big congratulations to you! Lee Mullen crossed the line in 6th in a time of 32:56 and Luke Haynes crossed in 39:59. What a wonderful race over in Yorkshire and its always great to see a new PB!

On Saturday Chris Hurst took on the Bassingham Bash 5 miler and finished in 34:51. Described as "a hot one" its always great to see where the runs takes us over the weekend.

Dave Kenyon and Dawn Cawston-Sellars both went into the water this weekend which was great to see. Not just runners, we are swimmers aswell. This whole "cross training" is suppose to be great for you! Well done to you both!

The beginners over in Skegness and doing really well and have completed week 3 of their C25K course! You guys are practically over the "hump." Keep going!

This weekend also saw the new Skegness Boating Lake 5km route redesign raced in full action! A great turn out was had. It is every 1st Saturday of the month at 9am!
