The Mallard Cake 10km Dash: Post hot drink AND CAKE!!!
I mean, hands down, best event of the weekend...and there was a sweaty drumstick in another event.
What a fantastic turn out we had at this brand new event in Wyberton around the beautiful Westwood Lakes where the Boston SADRC Site runs regularly. A huge 18 SADRC runners attend the event with Steven Dowse bringing home the cake in finishing first in a time of 36:48 despite the windy conditions.
One of our youngest members, Evie Carpenter smashed her PB by 2 minutes and finished in 1hr07. Congratulations. Others who represented were Becki Atkinson (52:33) Tracey Collings (53:48), Kate Carpenter (54:50), Fearne Carpenter (57:00), Sarah and Shawn Thomas (1hr05) and Carrie Cropley (1hr06).
Jane Martin, who hits her 3 year running a mile a day milestone this week coming crossed the line in 53:52. A fantastic run following the Worksop Half last week. This running a mile a day could catch on!
Carol Daulat represented the black and orange in the Deepdale Dash which is an annual event by Barton and Humber AC. Carol finished the course in a time of 1hr16 on a course which is most defiantly not flat. Carol loved the course, even with the hills but did say it was not as bad as the Bolingbroke Breaker. Might have started something there Carol!
We have had free cake and tea, a free drumstick coming up, 1 fantastic hoodie....but just wait for it.... A PERSONLISED MUG!!! I mean this is on my to do list next year! What an incredible finishing gift! Leanne Rickett and Darren Fissenden took part in the Meridian Half Marathon. A whole 13ft of elevation throughout the whole course. "A windy and a course in the middle of nowhere but a great event." Darren crossed the line in 1hr36 and Leanne 1hr52.
On Saturday, Becca Grice took part in the MoRunner 10km event in Nottingham. The MoRunner event is there to help raise awareness for Movember and Men's Health issues. A great and friendly 10km event which lapped around the River Trent and Nottingham Embankment a couple of times. Rebecca finished the course in 1hr12 and crossed the line collecting a drumstick as she went!
