Sunday 6th March

Now that we’ve reached March it really feels like the season has kicked off and there were races being run by Skegness and District members all over the county… sorry make that Europe!

We don’t usually talk about the runs in the week however this week during club training Skegness and District Runners ran for Ukraine and raised over £100 to help the Red Cross.

Kicking off the weekend Julie Goodwin ran her first ultra the Waterway 30. When booking Julie thought it would be flat however she discovered that it was almost exclusively off road, muddy and had flooded however Julie did note the food stations were excellent and complimented the chef on his jam sandwiches, that’s what we run for after all, food.

Guy Hatton ran in club favourite the Benidorm half marathon in a time of 2:08. Guy hasn’t run further than 10km since October.

Sunday saw the third of the four Revesby run series after a few weeks of rain James Willis described it as a ‘mudfest.’ Once again the Revesby race was split into two distances. Fran Stimson led home the Skegness runners in the 5 miler in a time of 44.19 followed by Darren Fessenden, Andy Mackinder, Jane Martin, Tracey Collings, Lydia Shreeves, Graham Farley Roenel Kenyon and Jimmy Hearn.

Mark sands won the 10 miler overall in a time of 1.05.32. Also running the 10 Miles was Brian Darrington, Andy Shelton, Dave Kenyon and James Willis. First 10 miler woman home was Amy Lambley in 1:32:12 and was quickly followed by Emmajean Hearn, Louise Darrington, Becky Hobson and Helena Shelton.

Angela Thompson ran the Retford half marathon and got a new Pb by just over a minute in a time of 1:33:44 to come home 24th lady overall. Also running at Retford was Matt West and who also got a PB in 1:26:31.

Another half marathon PB was achieved today was Richard Gibbs in Cambridge in a time of 1:11:11.

Sam Fox represented SADRC by herself at the Louth Tri 10km in a time of 53.42.

Finally it’s funny the things runners do to celebrate their birthday most people have a party, a nice meal or a spa weekend but not Julia Rayson she ran 50km to celebrate her 50th Happy Birthday Julia!

A quick reminder that the Skegness and District Running Club AGM will be on the 4th April 6.30pm at the New Life Centre Spilsby all members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
