This weekend we say Guy Hatton took on his 54th Marathon! This time it took him to Scotland and the beautiful Inverness. The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon is quite possibly one of the most stunning marathons in the world. Its reputation puts it on the bucket list for many Marathon Runners.
On search for Nessie, Guy ran a 4:42:32 which is quicker than his marathon time of last week! Unfortunately, the race didn’t live up to expectations with Guy saying it was “not as stunning as I expected but Inverness is lovely and the odd glimpse of the loch was beautiful.” Guy you inspire us week in week out, keep going!
Elsewhere, instead of the Loch Ness Monster we had Hedgehogs to find in the 2nd Hedgehog Half at Normanby Hall Country Park. A fantastic event with plenty of cake at the finish, and some spiky characters to see you cross the finish. Three fantastic ladies finished the course. Natalie Mitchell finished in 2:13:59 followed by Lora Hawkins with her 3rd fastest time of 2:15:17. Julie Goodwin also ran this event, and is well on the way of running 10 half marathons this year. Unfortunately, we cannot find Julies time, but I’m sure it was fantastic.
Last but not least, Mark Lyon has been out and about this weekend. Mark has found a love for not just running, but biking recently and since his Ultra Marathon, Mark decided to merge the two and take on a Duathlon in Dalbeattie Forest, which is in Scotland. The event consists of a 10 mile run followed by a 16 mile bike run over the 7 Stanes red route. A tough challenge for anyone but Mark took this challenge, and smashed it describing the challenge as "scary but amazing!" Mark finished the whole course in 03:15:45 finishing 66th out of 172 athletes! An amazing effort, well done!...Mark did not see Nessie either!
Well Done Team SADRC! See where next week takes us!
