Oh yes, its the Great North Run time of the year! With a men's race that went under the 1 hour mark, finishing in 00:59:51 we were bound to see some fantastic times today! It may have been misty, rainy and muggy but did SADRC deliver!
Steven Dowse finished 362/60,000 in a fantastic 1:20:31. A course best, and has finally put last years GNR behind him! Robert Rawdon was close behind in 1:20:33 and finished in 395th. Andrew Thompson made SADRC telly famous as we watched his cross the start line. He came in in the top 1000 crossing in 910 in 1:26:53. Shawn Thomas and Sarah Thomas ran their 5th GNR this weekend crossing the line together in 2:19:19. Lora Robinson and Sally Sharp crossed the line after finally finding the illusive J "Jesmond" Parkrun on the Saturday in a time of 2:14:34. Becki Atkinson finished her 8th GNR (someone a fan?!) after running a marathon last week in a time of 2:01:24...but more importantly, found that pint at 10 miles! Jane Martin continues her running streak 946538 crossing the GNR in a time of 2:00:49.
Julie Goodwin finished the race, even with an all inclusive holiday the week before, getting home the day before the GNR. What better training! Laura Slater ran her 3rd GNR. Jess Gilbert, Amy Mitchel and Kirsty Boulton ran the race together and crossed in 2:17:35
Lee Mullen, Phillip Weaver and Simon Wise ran Mansfield 10km. Lee finished 2nd in a time of 34:10 with Phil in 38:26 in 12th place. Simon Wise crossed in 40:51 in 28th place.
A huge congratulations to Steven Dowse who has won the Wolds Dash Series Senior Winner 2024 Trophy. Congratulations and thank you Louth Athletic Club for another fantastic series this year! Steven said he is "proud to take home the shield this year. Great series, definitely recommend people give it a try next year if you haven’t before"
The Skegness Beginners are doing INCREDIBLE and this week ran 25 minutes straight. Week 8 and numbers are still very strong! Its great to see some new runners taking to the streets, and with only 2 weeks left, 5km is on the horizon!
A shout out to Dave Kenyon who ran his 150th Parkrun this week in Unvongo, South Africa. He took the SADRC tshirt on tour which was great to see. What an achievement, congratulations! ....if you are trying to complete the alphabet, thats a great letter U!
