Sunday 9th January

SADRC travelled to Biscathorpe for the XC Championships of 2022.

Biscathorpe is the ultimate XC route. It has everything you need out of a XC route. Hills, Water and Tree Jumps! It’s a fantastic course but it is unforgiving and a tough course.

We had a fantastic turn out to Biscathorpe, and it was our best turn out to these championships!

Sat with my little chair, waiting at the water jump, it was fantastic to see so many SADRC vests giving XC a go! Everyone who crossed had a huge smile on their face, and at the time they may disagree, but I think they all enjoyed it! It was the first XC for many including Lora, Elaine and Fran but they all enjoyed it, more than they thought!

The men’s race went off first to run the 10km course. First back for the club was Paul Jackson who ran a very strong race! Luke Haynes, who is one to watch for the future, came across the line second for the club with Ed Crawford coming in 3rd.

The ladies I am sure have a disadvantage, the course might be shorter (the only time I like women and men being on a different page) but the course had been churned up from the previous races. But did the ladies give it a good go! Crossing the line first was Alice Hockman who ran with strength and speed. Sarah Dowling finished second for the club followed by Lora Hawkins. Special mention goes to Julie Goodwin who was in third position for the ladies, but then went the wrong way!

A fantastic day out for the club with lots of new people taking up the challenge! That’s what running is all about! Giving it a go. Fall in the water or not! Supporting, having a laugh and trying something new!

Well Done SADRC!
