This week’s racing kicked off with the Wolds Dash 4 on Wednesday night. Steven Dowse, Rebecca Atkinson, Dave Kenyon and Chris Hurst took part from the club, tackling just over 10km of hills in the heat - including a picturesque but rather tricky off road section. Well done everyone.
Friday night saw the return of the ever popular Sleaford Striders 10k.
We had a great turnout from the clubs and despite some hot conditions we also had some great results.
Steven Dowse was first back to the club, finishing third overall too, in an impressive 34.57. Also picking up an award for first in her age group was Janet Harmston in a fantastic 55.38.
Second back for the club was Brian Hawkins 38.19, followed by Mark Sands 39.03 who is returning from injury with some impressive results.
This was Tracy Macdonald’s first race in Skegness and District colours, she said: 'I loved it even though the hills were hard I did it and I didn’t even stop with the hills!
‘Thanks to Mark and Steve for coming back to support my finish that was a total suprise and I had tears in my eyes. I didn’t expect that at all. Loved the teamwork atmosphere and of the the chat and cake at the end with some of the team.’
Other results for the club were; Darren Fissenden 42.30, Leanne Rickett 50.36, Rebecca Atkinson 51.52, Jason Green 52.40 , Amy Lambley 55.30, Janet Harmston 55.38, Julie Franklin 56.52, Amy Mitchel 59.05, Kirsty Boulton 59.18 and Julie Goodwin 1.07.11.
Sunday saw club runners head over to Newark for the half marathon. Despite the wet conditions, there were some brilliant results both for our club runners and other - the course record got broken by the first five finishers!
Chris Hurst bagged himself a shiny new PB with an impressive time of 1.38.31 and despite being full of cold, Sarah Dowling ran a fantastic 1.48.00.
It was Julie Goodwin’s second race of the weekend following the 10k on Friday and she completed the half in a very respectable 2.24.00.
Another fantastic week, great effort by all.
