Sunday 8th October 2023

It was a busy weekend for club runners this week.

Sunday saw the return of the Chester marathon and metric marathon - the UK’s 6th largest and multi award winning marathon.

We had a fantastic turnout from the club and were excited to hear that the club had been selected to have a space in the pre-race club marquee which was greatly appreciated.

First back for the club in the marathon event, with an impressive PB too, was Lee Mullen 2.37.46, followed by Brian Hawkins 3.03.10 and Phil Weaver who also claimed a PB with 3.09.22.

Darren Fissenden and Andy Shelton ran together in 3.22.25, followed by Chris Hurst with a fantastic PB of 3.52.29 and Leanne Ricketts 4.15.31.

Meanwhile, taking on the metric marathon, was Sally Sharp in 2.55.30, picking up a half marathon PB in the process, Claire Harness 3.17.08, Sarah and Shawn Thomas 3.34.58 and Helen Skelton 3.51.17.

Brilliant running everyone, especially given the unseasonably mild conditions.

Heading to Wales this weekend was Martin Jones. He took on the Greenfield Valley Park Run Saturday (a brutal hilly route - in his own words), followed by the Bangor City 10k on Sunday. Martin had a great run bagging a 3min SB in 1.05.57. Fantastic running Martin.

Closer to home on Sunday saw Kirsty Boulton and Amy Mitchell taking on the Lunacy Adrenaline Run - an extreme off-road running event. Despite the challenging conditions and obstacles they had a great race with a well deserved drink at the end.

It was also another great weekend of Park Runs by club runners, with Philip Prowse picking up a PB of 25.49, Jane Martin and Andy Johnson ran their 50th Park Runs and Emmajean and Sophie Hearn headed to Milton Country for a tourist Park Run.
